Have you ever felt as though you were weighed down with burden like having your feet stuck in thick sand or mud? The risen Lord Jesus meets two disciples who felt this way after Jesus had been crucified. They had put their hope in Jesus only to have it dashed, so they thought. Jesus comes to them after he has risen from the dead and teaches them that this was always God’s plan of salvation. He teaches and walks with them and frees them from their burdens. Then he goes into their home and hosts them in a meal and their eyes are opened. These two now go running to tell the good news of Jesus’ resurrection. No longer weighed down by burden, these disciples run free with the gospel to share. [Easter 3]
