In today’s Gospel reading Jesus sees the bent-over woman, calls her forward, and sets her free, restoring her dignity as a “daughter of Abraham.” Sabbath becomes liberation, not restriction. Her healing brings praise and communal joy. Christ’s compassion invites us to see the overlooked, lift the oppressed, and stand tall in God’s grace. [Pentecost 11]
