Milestones Ministry

Celebrating life in faith together

Milestones Ministry is a way for the community of St Paul's to celebrate with you the promises made in baptism. It also provides an opportunity to be honoured, supported and blessed as a family as we grow in faith together.

Each Milestone is marked with an event for you and your child to attend. This is an opportunity to explore how God is with us in every stage of our life and faith journey. Milestones are celebrated in worship through prayer and blessing. Each child participating will receive a small gift from the congregation and a reminder of God's constant love and care for them.

YOUTH AND FAMILY MINISTRY

At St Paul's we believe our ministry is not just on Sundays and Friday nights when we gather in the church building, but also during the week in homes. Families are equipped with resources and ideas to do this through the SPY Website. You can also ask to join our Facebook group for updates and info.

OUR MINISTRY PROGRAMS...

SPY (St Paul's Youth)

is for young people in Years 7 to 12, with the dual purpose of getting together to enjoy fun, engaging activities, as well as building biblical literacy, theological understanding of concepts such as grace, and exploring what it means to live as a Christian through group discussion and quiet time.

SPY is currently on Zoom, during term time.

Safe House

Ministry to Secondary School students and beyond

A small group ministry designed to nurture faith outside the church building by inviting Christ into the "everydayness" and "everywhereness" of life.

The first Friday of the month at 7.30pm, during term time - currently suspended.

Confirmation

typically involves those in Year 9 upwards.  Confirmation includes writing a Faith Statement, completing a Creative Project based on the Faith Statement, wrestling with and asking tough questions, reflecting on Worship and sermons, and assessing gifts and talents, and faith personalities.
Each year we hold a Youth Camp for those attending SPY and Confirmation. Camp attendance is strongly encouraged for those wishing to be confirmed.

First Friday of the month at 7.30pm during term time

Safe House is small group ministry designed to nurture faith outside the church building by inviting Christ into the everydayness and everywhereness of life.

Safe Houses are small groups gathering in homes where fellowship, spiritual discussions and prayer happens.  Each student has been assigned to a Safe House according to their age.

Please contact Jemimah to check the location of your Safe House.  Remember the allocation is only a suggestion - often based on location; these are open to changes if you get in touch!

What the youth say about Safe House...

I enjoy Safe House because I get to see my friends and get to talk about things (God) that I couldn't do with my friends who don't believe (year 7 student)

Safe House has taught me what it means to be a great person in society.  Each month we talk about different relevant topics about today's society and how to deal with it when encountered.  Also the hanging out with friends is a big plus. (Year 10/11 Student)

Something I like about Safe House is being able to talk and chillax with other people who share the faith which comes with a sense of belonging (Year 8 / 9 Student)

You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.  1 Peter 2:5

Second and fourth Friday of the month at 7.00pm - 9:30pm during term time.

An opportunity for years 10, 11 & 12 students to continue to develop and deepen their faith and knowledge of the Bible and Christianity, as well as carry their faith into their lives.

Each week of Vision Quest there is content uploaded to our SPY website for parents, youth and families to either prepare, review, or catch up on the things we are looking at.  Make sure you check it out if you can't come along - these are simply discussion starters, youtube videos, articles to read and reflect on!

Topics we will be looking at this year include: Gender equality - both in the church and society, Why Should I read the Bible?, Mentoring, and When Being a Christian isn't easy.

There are also updates and reminders on our Facebook group - to join please contact Jordan!

Pastoral Care is the way we all share the love, compassion and comfort of Christ with one another and with our community. The Apostle Paul calls on us to "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way, you will fulfil the law of Christ." (Gal. 6:2).

Pastoral Care at St Paul's takes place through caring relationships, small groups, fellowship activities, prayer. We are all pastoral carers because every disciple of Jesus is called to love God and their neighbour.

Pastoral Care at St Paul's is overseen by our coordinator, Cathy Beaton, and our pastors.
