Rehearsals Wednesday evenings at 7.45pm

Music is an important part of worship at St Paul's. Psalm 100 tells us to "make a joyful noise unto the Lord...come before his presence with singing...enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise"

If you love singing, can read music and have been looking for a way to contribute to worship through music at St Paul's, then this could be for you.

Every Monday 2pm - 3pm during term time

Speak English Make Friends (SEMF) is a group of people giving and receiving practice in conversational English. Each session starts with a led discussion for the whole group on some topic (such as family, hobbies, hospitals, etc). We use teaching materials provided by AMES (Adult Multicultural Education Services). This is followed by individual conversations where each of the volunteers talks to one or two or three of the students.

There are usually about 20 students and six volunteers. The number of students is increasing and a sufficient number of volunteers is critical to enable learning.

The process is a two way street. The students are so enthusiastic and grateful and the volunteers are able to learn more about the students, their disappointments and their joys. We all feel we get more out of this activity than we put in.
