Page 10Pony up for decent name tags

Here are eight reasons why we are introducing large, magnetized name tags to St Paul’s in the next little while:

  1. Pastor Andrew Brook and Jodi want to get to know you in the shortest time possible.
  2. We are a congregation of over 600 members, and lots of friends as well. It’s hard to remember everyone’s name. The four services each Sunday don’t help either.
  3. Instead of a whispered request to a staff member (Who is that? I should know her name because she’s been worshipping here for ages…) you’ll be able to march confidently up to someone and greet them by name.
  4. You’ll be save the embarrassing situation of meeting someone and saying how good it is to see them, and then only one week later forgetting who they are.
  5. If you have failing eyesight, or if you want to see someone’s name well before you’re standing nose to nose, the name tags will be sufficiently large to meet your needs.
  6. You won’t need to jab a pin into your fine silk shirt or ruin your expensive suit lapels with small pin holes, because the tags will be magnetized.
  7. Many of you have said how good it’s been to have the temporary name stickers in the past few weeks, but the queue before each service has been a bit awkward to say the least.
  8. They are the very latest fashion accessory — truly! Cool

For these reasons, during March you’ll be asked to commit to buying one. (Order forms were distributed with Inside Story on March 4. If you do not have an order form, please ask for one at the Office.)

NametagThey are large enough to read at reasonable distance, professionally printed, and encased in a protective plastic ‘lens’ to which the magnetic attachment is fixed. Each tag will cost $5, and that’s the best quote around. After delivery of your name tag, we suggest you keep it in your pigeonhole so it doesn’t get lost in the bottom of your handbag or get ruined in the washing machine.

How easy is that? And thanks in advance for doing your bit to make our congregation a more friendly place.
