Simple Apple Slice

If this isn’t the simplest slice recipe in the world, then someone had better give me the recipe for a simpler one! Any takers?

• 1 pkt of plain cake mix
• 1 cup dessicated coconut
• 125 gm melted butter

Mix together, press into slice tray and bake at 180 for 20 minutes.

Topping

• 800gm tin of good quality* Pie or Baker’s apple  (e.g., SPC or Ardmona)
• 375 ml Sour Cream

Spread the sour cream evenly over the apple and pop back in the oven for about 5 minutes. It will not look any different when you remove it from the oven and you may be tempted to put it back in for a while.  Resist this temptation as the cream sets as it cools.

Cool slice well before cutting.  

* I have tried it with a home brand product but the slices were too large and too dry.
