Provision of Gifts

The Council considered the approach to be adopted when gifts are offered to the congregation.  Council encourages the giving of gifts, but believes that any offers of gifts need to be referred to Council.  This will enable inquiries to be made and the gift allocated to the most appropriate area.  A policy will be developed reflecting this approach.  It was also agreed that a register of gifts be established and maintained for future reference.

Pastoral Assistant – Youth & Family Ministry

Council discussed the status of the recruitment for this role.  It was agreed that the position should be re-advertised.

Finance

Council considered the finance report for the period 1 October 2006 to 19 February 2007.  It was noted that direct givings had increased and that total givings over the January period had been higher than in previous years.

Employment arrangements

The Council received an update on a review of the existing employment arrangements for staff and considered various improvements to provide greater structure to, and to formalise, these arrangements.  This work is being undertaken to ensure that various legal and other requirements are met, such as recommendations from the Department of Lay Ministry.
