Please take oneLLL goodies in foyer Please help yourself to the LLL Calendar for 2010, and the 2009 Annual Report, which are in the foyer today. The Lutheran Laypeople's League is an independent financial institution whose sole purpose is to support the work of the LCA, its mission arms, and its congregations. At St Paul's, we currently benefit from LLL loans totalling $106,000, on which we are paying interest at 5% (the market rate would be more like 7.5 to 8%). Our annual saving is around $3,000. LLL loans for church-related projects now exceed $300m, saving the church around $7.8m in interest. Adding on grants, and the value of other services, brings the 2008/2009 total saving to $10.3m. So the financial support to the LCA — which includes us — is significant.
Full details of LLL operations are in the Annual Report, including details of the the financial support outlined above. The LLL gets its funding for loans by offering deposit accounts. These offer offer us an attractive interest rate — currently 4.25% — and your funds are at call. There is no minimum deposit requirement, and there are no fees of any kind. You can bank over the Internet, and pay bills by B-Pay or by periodical payments. Thank you to those of you who are depositors. And those who are not, you are invited to show your appreciation of the LLL's support by opening a deposit account. With a competitive interest rate, it really is a win/win situation. An Account Opening Form will be found in the promotional literature in the rack near the entrance to the church or may be obtained from the office. Ross Garrett
