What do Lutherans Believe?

Lutherans believe that God offers his eternal love to humans as a gift - it is not something that they can earn by what they do.  In Christ Jesus, God has shown us that he accepts us as we are, with our many failings.  In believing that alone, we are put right with God.  Lutherans sum this up by professing that we are 'justified by grace, through faith'. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life."  (John 3:16) Such faith empowers people to express love to their neighbours freely - not in an effort to win God's salvation, but in praise of the God who loves us unconditionally and eternally.  Lutherans believe in the Holy Trinity, one God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Peacemakers Bible Study in Lent

The forty days of Lent lead us to Easter, and give us a special opportunity to pause and reflect on the heart of our Christian faith – the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ to give us new life and salvation.  The season of Lent is also traditionally associated with a focus on central faith practices such as Bible reading, prayer, fasting and service.

An evening and daytime Bible Study are offered at St Paul’s for the six Sundays in Lent, beginning on 18th February and finishing on March 25th. The topics include: Understanding conflict; our response to conflict; the opportunities that conflict provides; taking responsibility for our own contribution to conflict; repentance, confession and forgiveness; reconciliation. The study book costs $10. For details and registration, please contact the office.

LLL

Giving through Regular Electronic Giving (REG) provides for a simple and regular transfer of funds through the Lutheran Laypeople's League (LLL).

REG is confidential, with the St Paul's account receiving a bulk amount.

Further details are available from the office.
