An interesting article in the Telegraph about the entire lack of discipline of children nowadays. There is much truth in the comments made, although there are a few more points that could have been included. Still, one particular point pretty much sums it up, not just for kids, but for modern society.
The over-arching theme is value relativism: actions depend on one's feelings, rather than any clear moral code. Youngsters are taught that every child, regardless of age, has the right to make his or her 'informed choices' instead of being told what is right and wrong.
It's all going well - relatively speaking, that is.
