In response to the letter by Bishop Steinbock (Bishop of Fresno, California) calling priests to support the Church's definition of marriage, Father Geoffrey Farrow, who had revealed he is a homosexual, decided to respond in a rather interesting manner. (By "interesting", I mean he opposed the Church's teaching.)
Did you get the subtle accusation? Apparently - and maybe I am reading this wrong - by protecting marriage in the normal and traditional sense, one is intimidating homosexuals. Hmm... I thought people are intimidated when you actually intimidate them. But then again, I must have missed something. You see, by not actively supporting homosexual "marriages", you are apparently intimidating homosexuals. By that logic, I could argue that everyone who does not exclusively support normal marriages are intimidating heterosexuals. In case you are not edified enough by Father Farrow, here's more:
I am not sure which aspect of "human dignity" he is referring to here. I mean, where is the dignity in not recognizing and appreciating the fundamentally complementary differences between male and female? But again, I must have missed the point since it's not about "human dignity", it's about the "right" (as in license) to do as one pleases. Sorry, my mistake. And I almost forgot, it's about not becoming an accomplice to "moral evil" because that's important too. |
