Variety spices up mens' nights

Men's group on a Friday night sees blokes of all shapes and sizes gathering. The reasons for attendance vary: some to catch up with friends, some to enjoy a couple of hours' fellowship away from the home, some to decompress from the week's travails, and others come just because they can.

Each meeting is rich and varied. Last month we heard of how donations raised for Simon M's work in Thailand are being stretched to cover other areas of need apart from the motorbikes (see Mission Board — the noticeboard in the Community Room near the kitchen servery). Barry Schwartz shared a gem regarding the faith of his grandchildren. And of course there were various conversations between the blokes about all sorts of things, both spiritual and not.

Pastor Andrew took us through the balance of the study on the so-called Just War, which provoked some heated, spirited discussion; and we had the chance to welcome Dinu and Andrew's father-in-law to the fellowship.

Excellent wine and hearty food was provided.
