What will St Paul's be like in 2012?
St Paul's Youth are thinking about the future. This was a huge question to consider, but one that inevitably needed to be discussed. Down in the dungeon we began by reading the "In Christ we Gather, Grow and Go" booklet and discussed what it means for us as a group. FrOGMa is place where High school kids go to share their faith, and to learn more about who they are and what they stand for. We are a thriving group of people who are comfortable in sharing our thoughts and feelings. We had the privilege of having Dawn Schilling (representative of St Paul's seniors) on our panel for the FrOGMa Vision 2012 discussion last Sunday (15th June). This helped us understand our place and value in the congregation, and receive some wonderful insight into how we can be more involved. The youth also had on the panel, Lauren Latz (representative of St Paul's Young Adults), Jeremy Goessling and myself (representing FrOGMa). Many ideas were shared in the session, some everyone agreed with strongly, and others proved to be highly controversial. It was suggested in the meeting that St Paul's youth is somewhat separated from the rest of the church: "We never see you teenagers". This brought on much laughter, and comments! We came to the conclusion that for the most part this is true! So to change this, there will be changes ahead for the members of FrOGMa. There will be teenagers reading in church, talking to you in the service announcements, more cake stalls and maybe even fundraisers! The FrOGMa Vision 2012 meeting was certainly very worthwhile and I would like to thank those who came for their commitment and enthusiasm! Look out... the Teens are coming up stairs! |
